Sent through air, Walled in glass.
A position, not a product line. The group has spent six decades turning light into things that ship, which is a poor qualification for predicting physics and an excellent one for recognising when a limit has stopped being a limit. Everything below follows from a single change of medium, and none of it is offered as a promise.
Hollow Core
For sixty years the technical bench of this house has been light made into product. This is where that bench looks next. The premise is unreasonably simple: stop sending the signal through the glass, and send it through the hollow instead. What follows from it is why the group holds a position here rather than an opinion.
The Air Core空芯光纖
Ordinary fibre sends light through glass. This sends it through air, held there by a ring of thin walls that never touch one another. The glass stops being the road and becomes only the edge of it.

Light moves through air at very nearly its vacuum speed. Across a long link that is not a specification detail. On certain routes it is the entire reason the route exists.

Solid fibre has been engineered to within a hair of its own physical limit. Air carries no equivalent ceiling. The question stops being how close you can get, and becomes whether the limit applies at all.

Glass burns under intense light and distorts as power rises. Air does neither to any comparable degree, which quietly opens windows a solid core could not be asked to carry.

An empty core can be filled. Introduce a gas and the fibre stops being only a conduit. It becomes an instrument metres long, built out of the medium itself.
